Rainbows Programme

Rainbows is a programme offering help and support to any child trying to cope with loss in their lives. The programme offers peer support to children who have experienced a loss through death, separation, divorce etc. Such grieving can cause much pain and for many is carried without help and support – Rainbows is not counselling or therapy but a peer support group for a grieving child with a trained and caring adult. The aim of the programme is to give the children an understanding of their new family unit, to build a stronger sense of self-esteem and to help them towards an acceptance of the changes that have taken place in their lives.

RAINBOWS groups have been run in the school for a number of years now. New groups will be formed in November. If you think your child might benefit from such a group, please sign the attached form and return to school. Confidentiality is guaranteed. Please talk to Múinteoir Caitríona, Múinteoir Orna, Suzanne or class teacher if you would like more information about Rainbows. The letter is also available from here.

Yours sincerely,

Daithí de Paor (Principal)
