Congratulations to Múinteoir Ben

The school would like to congratulate Múinteoir Ben Mac Caoilte who has been appointed as Principal of Gaelscoil Inis Córthaidh, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford. Our school will greatly miss Ben. He has given 16 years loyal and generous service to Gaelscoil Philib Barún, leaving a legacy of art and creativity that will always be cherished. Marathon Swimming Fundraiser

Franklin Hughes, local Marathon swimmer, will swim the 21km Fastnet to Baltimore swim this summer. He is raising money through this swim for Gaelscoil Philib Barún and as part of his fundraising campaign. He called in to the school recently to speak to the classes about long distance swimming and gave fascinating insights into how he undertakes such events, answering the many questions the pupils had. School Reopening

Gaelscoil Philib Barún will reopen tomorrow Tuesday, 7 January 2025 from 8:45am. Please exercise caution and only come if it is safe to do so as not all roads in the area are gritted. If necessary, pupils may come in at a later time. The school yard is currently closed.

School Closure due to Snow

The Board of Management of Gaelscoil Philib Barún has decided to close the school on Monday, 6 January 2025 due to the hazardous conditions around the school environs following today’s snowfall and icy conditions. The road into the school and paths around it are very particularly slippery following the recent snow and we feel they will be hazardous to use. We plan to open on Tuesday, 7 January 2025, conditions permitting.

Gaelscoil Philib Barún to get a new extension

The Board of Management of Gaelscoil Philib Barún are delighted to announce that the Department of Education has approved the construction of 2 special needs classroom and ancillary rooms. This extension, of over 450 sq. metres, is a very significant capital investment in the school’s infrastructure. A design team will be appointed soon through an eTender process and the successful consultants will progress the project through planning and construction phases.
