Introducing Gaelscoil Gig 2023

Gaelscoil Philib Barún is delighted to promote the latest Gaelscoil Gig. After the success of last year’s concert, the Parents Association are running another concert as a fundraiser for the school. Irish language classes every Friday

The school will offer Irish language classes for parents every Friday morning in the school beginning on Friday, 11 November 2022 from 9:15am to 10:15am. Classes will run for 6 weeks, are free of charge and all abilities are welcome to attend. Emphasis will be on oral Irish and communication with children who are pupils in this school. An Féar Gortach (The Hungry Grass)

An Féar Gortach (The Hungry Grass) is a short film produced by Sixth Class at Gaelscoil Philib Barún in Tramore, Ireland. The film explores the theme of the Irish Famine 175 years ago and the story begins when Muireann (played by Molly Swift) walks through the hungry grass and is brought back to Tramore during the famine, where she meets Cáit (played by Róisín Ní hEithir) and her family. Irish Classes for Parents

If you would like to participate in a mixed ability Irish language class for parents of pupils in the school, we will run a virtual class (from 7 – 8pm on Zoom) starting on Tuesday, 11 January 2022. The classes will continue each week (Tuesdays, at the same time) for 8 weeks. Classes are free and informal and interested parents can enrol by sending an email to eolas@pilibbarun.com where you will receive a link to join the classes.

Movie Awards Featured on Local Radio

The school’s recent successes in the National Schools Drama Competition (where their short film, Saoirse, won 3 awards) were featured on local radio recently, where Muinteoir Ben and the lead actress from the movie (Issie O’Sullivan) were interviewed about the Saoirse movie on WLRfm‘s “Mar Dhea” Irish language show. Saoirse Movie Wins 3 National Drama Awards

Saoirse Movie Launch

Introduction The school is delighted and proud to launch “Saoirse”, an Irish language short film produced by the students of 6th class in Gaelscoil Philib Barún in Tramore, Co. Waterford in Ireland.
