About Us
Welcome to the official online home of Gaelscoil Philib Barún, an Irish-language school located in the seaside town of Tramore, Co. Waterford in Ireland.
This website can be viewed in either Irish or English by selecting the desired language from the list on the sidebar. A bilingual version of the site is also being developed and content in both Irish and English is being added on a daily basis.
The school was founded in 1985 as a result of the heroic work of a group of parents and local people who shared a common interest in Irish and in the foundation of a Gaelscoil in Tramore. A total of 29 children enrolled at that time and the school has since grown to over 200 pupils enrolled from Junior Infants to 6th class. The school currently has a staff of eight teachers, a resource teacher and an administrative principal. The school was named after Philip Barron, a pioneer of Irish Nationalism from the 1800’s whose values live on in our school.
The goals of this website are to:
- Serve as a valuable online resource for those connected with the school, providing useful information to pupils, parents and staff alike.
- Provide a more effective means of communicating school issues to parents and to the wider school community.
- Increase the profile of the school both locally and nationwide.
We hope that you will find our website informative and we thank you for taking the time to stop by.
Yours sincerely,
Daithí de Paor, Principal
