However, to do so would require a significant increase in support for the fund-raising activities carried out by the association.

To this end, we would very much appreciate your support for the upcoming Food & Wine Tasting Evening next Wednesday, 14 December 2011. Tickets available in the school office (or at the door) for just €8.

We would also like to remind parents that the monthly Parent’s Association meetings are open to anyone to attend, and additional support in the form of volunteers for our various events is always very welcome. At present, there is only a small group of parents (less than 6) who regularly attend, but it would be far more preferable to have a larger pool of volunteers to call upon so that the same core group do not have to continually give their time to organise each and every event. So if you think you can help in an way at all, please feel free to contact us for additional information.

Admission to all sessions is completely free this year but your continued support for the raffle in Session 2 would be most welcome.

Junior & Senior Infants and Rang 1 shows will take place in Rang 4 (just inside main door) from 12pm – 2pm, as follows:

  • Junior Infants: 12:00pm
  • Senior Infants: 12:45pm

Shows from Rang 2-6 will take place at Stella Maris Hall from 6:30pm – 8:30pm, as follows:

Raffle

In all, €626 was raised and lodged to the Parents Association account. This is on top of the €340 raised in last month’s cake sale.

Also noteworthy is the really impressive, efficient and polite manner in which the children conducted themselves. “They really took the initiative when needed and were a really nice bunch”, said one parent after the event.

To this end Seán wishes to invite all parents to attend a meeting of parents on Wednesday, 9th of November 2011 at 7:00pm in the school to appoint a father and a mother to the new board. Nominations will taken at the meeting and a secret ballot will be held if necessary. Those elected will serve for the next four years.

Daithí spoke with Enda and he agreed to help in any way he could with the school’s application for a permanent building. A follow-up letter has been sent to him. A special thanks to Maxine Keoghan, Mayor of Tramore, who raised the issue of our school with the Taoiseach and presented him with a card made by the pupils.

The calendar has been improved this year to include details of any planned fund raising or charity events, in addition to the usual details about school holidays and other events.

Also new this year is Cost indicator for each event. This is intended to give parents advance notice of events which may have an associated cost. Also, the timing of any such events has been carefully reconsidered this year so that similar events do occur together or at busy/costly times of the year. For example, there are no such events immediately after Christmas or Easter. This change was made as a result of direct feedback from parents during the 2010-2011 school year.

They have come to the agreement that the fee will remain the same as last year. It will be as follows, €95 euros for the first child and €85 per child after that.

Family of one child: €95
Family of two children: €180 (€95 & €85)
Family of three children: €265 (€95, €85, €85)
Family of four children: €350 (€95, €85, €85, €85)

Fees include €20 for Arts & Crafts and €10 for photocopying and the covering of books.

Book rental fees may be paid in installments of your choice to Suzanne in the office. Fees should be paid in full Friday the 3rd of June 2011, as school books for the coming year will have to be ordered as soon as possible. Those who wish to pay installments should have a deposit paid by that date.

Purchasing your own books

Parents who wish to buy their own books must let the office know before the end of May, so that the correct number of books may be ordered. Also if you are purchasing your own books, an Arts & Crafts fee of €20 and a €10 for photocopying per child must be paid to the office. When this is paid you will then receive your booklist in June. However those who do not pay will not receive their lists. It is very important that all fees for Arts & Crafts and photocopying are paid as each class will be allocated this money per child paid.

Book grant

Those who wish to avail of a book grant should apply in writing to the Principal before the 3rd of June 2011.
